With a name that translates to “rain,” Piero Lissoni’s Pioggia chair joins his Neve
(Snow) Ghiaccio (Ice) seating designs for Porro. This reinterpretation of the
classic wood chair features streamlined legs that give it the illusion of being
taller than the traditional side chair, despite its conventional height. The base
is available a variety of ash finishes topped with fabric or leather, a design that
Lissoni describes as having a touch of unexpected artistic flair. “I like to be a little
bit out of form,” the designer says. “Everything is so bourgeois: stiff, impersonal,
the same color, the same attitude, no surprises. I like to be a little provocative
today.” Next on the design agenda? Nebbia, or Fog. porro.com
The latest introduction to Ciarmoli Queda Studio’s
Essentials furniture collection was inspired by an unlikely
source: the designers’ dachshund, Gildo. Much like the
elongated pup, the sofa is long and offers a deep seat,
but with a relatively low backrest, resulting in a streamlined,
lean silhouette. Taking a hint from the pooch’s “strong
personality,” as designer Miguel Queda puts it, the
namesake sofa is upholstered in a bold geometric print
