Milan Design Week—with its Fuorisalone festivities and showroom events in the city’s Brera district—is an unparalleled exploration of design. Among the events taking place in the many palazzos on the streets of Milan were the fabric brand Dedar’s annual soiree, which featured a
collaboration between Dedar, designer Martino Gamper and artist Brigitte Niedermair.
Their concept, rendered in Dedar’s Tabularasa satin cotton, celebrates artists who use
blue—Picasso, Matisse, Yves Klein and others—their works abstracted into blocks of
color that mimic a smartphone’s slow-to-load image downloads (above). Elsewhere,
Los Angeles–based Graye hosted Intimate Strangers: A Los Angeles Conversation
featuring the works of L.A. makers, including Chiara Ferrari, Natasha Baradaran, Ariana
Rugs, Gulla Jonsdottir, Mattia Biagi and Robert Kuo (right).
