letter from the editor
When we decided to create this special Best of Design issue highlighting
our favorite projects from the past five years, we were pleasantly suprised.
Taking full stock revealed a pleasent struggle with choosing the just-right
projects.
We had to limit ourselves to a meager yet satisfying handful, but we
felt the ones that grace our pages capture the many incredible flavors
that we so loved and fussed over as we did when we first saw them.
Each and every interior design story—whether a Dale Carol Anderson
renovation, an opulent William R. Eubank incarnation, or a crisp Marcel
Wolterinck expression—is no worse for the wear. I was amazed at just how
fresh and enduring these stately homes remain.
Our latest issue also intimates what we anticipate will be another super-spectacular epoch in our rambunctious narrative. With a sampling of
indulgent finds, whether the wild flights of fancy by designers Alice
Temperley or Hope Newman or a decadent spoonful of Kate Zuckerman’s
sugary confections, we do not rest prettily on past laurels. Even our silky
folios have been revamped in a wispy, chic design that pops our marvelous
imagery out of the box. Hence with grace and aplomb, we continue to
vow up-and-down our New Year’s resolution—to greedily, persistently
amaze ourselves—will guide our days here. We sport a bit of black-leather
masochism, as we love the hunt, relish the street fight and revel in the
victories so that we may be the absolute first to present you with the hottest
for house, home and design liberty.
