For Carlton Varney’s birthday weekend at the Greenbriar Resort in
January, guests were treated to a walking tour given by Mr. Varney.
The chandelier above his head is the original from the movie Gone
with the Wind, which was purchased at auction for the Greenbriar,
one of many historical notes that included the designer’s homage
to Dorothy Draper’s visual concepts throughout the resort. interiors
creative director James Barra was also on hand to celebrate the
signing of Mr. Varney’s new book, Decorating in the Grand Manor.
