Covet
An intriguing defiance of the frothy, courtly dress code that has crystal festooned, fastened,
coiffed, glossed and gasping for air: the Amusespoons by Carina Riezebos propose, with
freshly scrubbed virtue, that it’s a table setting, not a Little Miss pageant. The Dutch
designer seduces us in concept (crystal spoons!) and craft—ultra-sultry, handcrafted,
moto-industrial silhouettes suffused with the dazzle of rainbows, the joy of endless dessert,
glitter and innocence—perfect for a season of merry and bright. A traditional art form in a
sensational rendition, the Crystal Foods collection also includes napkin rings for the holiday
host craving additional pieces of flair. To inquire, carinariezebos.nl; available through Royal

Matchmaking at its finest: The second edition of Objets
d’exception: design & métiers d’art in Paris spotlights the
collaborative magic between French designers and art-trade artisans—though the distinction between the two is
blurred by the 70 objects, lighting and furnishings. The
exhibition was presented by VIA, an organization devoted
to preserving and cultivating French craftsmanship.
Designers Fred Sionis and David Pergier partnered with Les
Ateliers Lognon l’Indéplissable to create the meticulous and
inspired Table 3 Plis. Fashioned of satin pleated chintz, the
piece is a hypnotic ode to a tactile and patient art. Gérard
Lognon’s studio is the rare fourth generation workshop still
specializing in the elaborate and fantastical craft of pleating,
which makes heart-stopping appearances on the runway.
Something different for the home, the design and technique
make a riveting duet. For information, (+ 33) 1 42 61 43 36
