inevitably, the apartment had to be practical, given its size ("it's a small space
and we have two young boys"), but for Anne-Marie practicality doesn't mean
giving up on beautiful things. in fact, the two can work together and frequently
do in this space. in the living room, the Casamidy handmade sofa and chairs
are more design classic than child-friendly. However, closer inspection reveals
that they are cleverly covered in a smart, wipe-clean oiled canvas, ready to
deflect even the best efforts of their two small sons. equally, the über-practical
black felt curtains in the master bedroom (hand-cut and sewn by Anne-Marie)
have been unintentionally bleached by the sunlight to reveal a gorgeous natural
patina that no tie-dying attempt could possibly have achieved. Right under
her nose, Anne-Marie's

being a purely practical
measure to things of
almost ethereal beauty.

favorite thing in the apartment) to the clean lines and contemporary cool of
