This type of celeb–friendly
elegance that cemented Maxim's
mystique—attracting stars by the dozens. on any night you
could find Charlie Chaplin, Grace Kelly, Frank sinatra, elizabeth
taylor, or Maria Callas, a regular who demanded the "red table"
favored by the Duke of Windsor. of course, it wasn’t all pomp
and circumstance: Brigitte Bardot famously walked in barefoot to
a party in 1967, travolta tore up the dance floor in ' 82, and three
years ago club promoters Marc Zaffuto and emmanuel d’orazio
broke Maxim's out of its amber by hosting a few of their notoriously
louche Club sandwich parties, which have become a regular pit
stop for the fashion flock.
“there was nothing really going on anymore at Maxim's, so we
thought it was time to get the chic décadence back in this
fabulous building,” says Zaffuto, who held a few sandwich parties
using all the floors before realizing it was too small. Adapting to
the space, they created the iconic Chez Lui party for the first floor
salon under the stained glass ceiling. "Maxim's at night becomes
so sublime. We are adding champagne, pink and red lighting
to create a magical atmosphere. this place is so elegant that
when you are arriving you already feel so chic and privileged to
be there."
