and the majority of custom furnishings. she also gave
a nod to interior design connoisseurs from the past with
such pieces such as the tufted William haines chairs in
the lounge and dorothy draper vanity chairs. in the
dining room there are chippendale-inspired chairs
and 1970s sirmos sconces mounted on mirrors in the
living room—all of which were sourced in new York,
paris and florida.
one of oBrien’s favorite spots is in the lounge, which she
finds very light and airy under the large glass skylight. “i
also love my office, with its plush walls, upholstered and
padded with wool. it’s very much like a cocoon,” she
says of the space that features a desk the shade of a
hermès box.
theatricality was herzlinger’s muse; and she readily
admits, “the whole place is about illusion.” Which
is exactly what hollywood does best. it transports
and thrills us. here, the level of drama, luxury and
exuberance takes us to that same wonderful place,
where unleashed creativity allows us to feel inspired.
