these limits of creativity and patience were surprisingly
auspicious: the couple found being in sync with local codes
granted them a home closer to their dreams than what
they would have achieved had they been left to their
own devices. “one of our challenges was to graduate the
landscaping from the wild growth of the conservation land
to the artificial ‘construct’ of the house‚” sapera remarks.
“We did this by introducing increasingly manicured elements
as we progressed toward the house‚ like the hedge that
serves as fencing for the pool.”
