says Scalo, was to engage a ˝glamorous perspective "My aim,"
on classics, evolving design one step further.˝
Scalo embraced the affective elements of the
simple farmhouse, enhancing and embellishing
it by combining clean, pure lines with touches of
ornamental luxury. A Shaker-inspired bed in the guest
room, for instance, faces a pair of Scalos custom-designed leather armchairs and a snakeskin chest
of drawers discovered in a Paris flea market. In the
master bedroom, the juxtaposition of black and white
transforms a Victorian pattern into a contemporary
gesture, bringing a moment of levity to the more
somber dispositions of the dark mahogany four-poster
bed and settee upholstered in deep amethyst velvet.
