Recognized for his ability
to see exquisite beauty in the most ordinary and oft-
overlooked objects and artifacts, Trapp moved into the two-
story 1820's house during the 1990s, having completed his
studies in landscape design—a background immediately
evidenced in his interiors. He arranges every detail the way one
would a single flower bed within an expansive garden. in the
living room, white birch branches thrust themselves from an urn
set against a mirrored arcade, and an assortment of Tibetan
religious beads ornament a table built from an old column.
Here and there, cabinets hold ostrich eggs, starfish and a
statuette of a cow that once belonged to the Maharajah of
Jaipur. in the dining area, pots of geraniums bejewel a wall
of arched windows salvaged from rhode island’s former
capital building, producing the appearance of stained
