in pursuit of
WEEKEND
fashion
THE WEEKEND IS PRACTICALLY BEGGING FOR IT.
A drive up the coast, through the country, into the city—traveling
by car is a kicky invitation to change the scenery. A chance to
slide away from the ordinary into a supple genre of vague
surroundings and other lives, wandering with the music, frame
after frame, delirious on sun and anonymity. They always make it
look so romantic on film, the voyage strummed so softly in songs.
And somehow those exuberant myths about open roads are true:
the sun-on-the-skin and wind-in-the-hair -trip a sincere cliché, the
surge of speed, a sentient rush. Excuses are thin; it is time to take
the Aston Martin or the cushy, dependable four-door out for a spin.
Packing light (heaven!) for a weekend away asks so little—a smart
selection of favorite pieces, the posh comforts with a preference
for understatement. This should be effortless. With a fine gathering
of sublime essentials, (a few for the dog, as well) and the rousing
promise of familiar sights losing focus in the distance, this is already
a fashionable adventure, if it only lasts three days n Arianne Nardo
