It’s for this reason gray is my color of choice. I
use color but very carefully. Neutral tones—white,
grey and black—are in a sense an accurate self-
portrait. I rarely step out of my gray on gray New
Balance sneakers and Martin Margiella uniform.
Many of the artworks in the restaurant by Ross
Bleckner, Vanessa Beecroft, Ceal Floyer and
Francesco Vezzoli reflect this vision with calculated
moments of color on neutral backgrounds.
Perhaps it is the ambiguous nature of non-color
that leads me to mediate on a musician like
