Local artisans crafted the heavy doors,
curvaceous bartops and table bases from
indigenous leadwood trees and companies
from Cape Town and Johannesburg completed
all the stonework for the story-high fireplaces and
tile imbedded in each floor. “I tried to be quite
textural and a little bit tongue-in-cheek with my
choices—the crystal chandelier hanging from
the thatch roof. I used as many different European
styles as possible, the common denominator
being the pleasing combination with authentic
African décor,” explains Falcke.
The furnishings each speak distinct languages
honed from the fashion capitals of the world—
Dedon, Philippe Starck, Philipp Plein and Kenneth
Cobonpue—all offer a cosmopolitan parlance.
Signature pieces such as Fendi’s seductive curved
white chaise is just as purposefully placed as the
red Marcel Wanders knotted chair. The main
building continues the interior sophistication,
marked most notably by a lacquered baby
grand piano elegantly juxtaposed against a
seating area where five custom wicker floor
lamps from the Belgian company Sempre hang
